Alejandra Dominguez

Hello:) I am Alejandra and I am a 10th grader in Hiram Bingham School. I joined the FDR-HB_Peru iGEM team three years ago because I love learning everything that has to do with science! Including working in the lab, scientific theory and fun science facts. I also enjoy to share this knew knowledge with my community and working closely with my friends and mentors. Some of my hobbies are playing basketball, soccer and the violin.

Ana Lucia Franco

Hi! My name is Ana Lucia, and I am a senior at FDR. I am originally from Venezuela and have lived all around Latin America. I joined iGEM as the production leader last year, where I have been able to work with my team on the creation of the promotion video and wiki. Outside of iGEM, I enjoy playing basketball, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Ilan Mitma

Hey there! My name is Ilan Mitma and I am a 10th grade student from Hiram Bingham School. It being my second year in iGEM, I chose to join the production group of the FDR-HB team as a leader, since I enjoy brainstorming brilliant ideas and implementing them to build the image of our project. Aside from iGEM (and school), I love performing outdoor activities, playing board games and watching action movies.

Saejin Park

Hi! My name is Saejin Park, and I am a senior in FDR. I am from South Korea, and Peru is my 4th time living abroad after living in Iran, Dubai, and Pakistan! This is my second year in iGem but also my first in in-person iGem labs. I love that I was able to learn and experience a lot of synthetic biology and lab techniques that I'd looked forward to before joining the team, and I am still learning something new everyday! I like to watch animal videos on YouTube, talk with my friends, and travel in my free time. :)

Nyahna Sanchez

Hi! I am Nyahna Sánchez, a tenth grader in Colegio FDR. I was born in Perú and I have lived in Lima my whole life. I joined IGEM because I have always been interested in biology and through this club I would be able to further explore this passion. This is my second year working with the SynBio team and it has been really fun to be in the lab after the pandemic, which also brought more unity to the team. Apart from science, I like dancing, writing, and listening to music.

Lara Reinoso

Hi I am Lara Reinoso, an 11th grader at Colegio FDR I was born Germany but I now live in Peru. This is my second year taking part in IGEM, we’re I am learning new synbio while working as a co leader for the education and outreach team. I personally love to tinker and learn new things which I have had the pleasure of doing with my IGEM team this last few years.

Lucia Guerrero

Hi! My name is Lucia Guerrero and I’m a 10th grader in Hiram Bingham School. This is my first year in iGEM and I am the secretary for our team this year but I also work with the synbio group. I’ve always liked science and I wish to study medicine or chemistry after finishing school. Outside of iGEM, I love reading, listening to music and playing the guitar or piano, as well as doing gymnastics and swimming.

Hiten Sharma

I am Hiten Sharma, a grade 9 student from Colegio FDR. I am from India and have lived in Thailand, US, Brazil and am currently in Lima, Peru. I am glad that I got the opportunity to join the Synbio team of IGEM in grade 8 and am very honored to be the secretary of the IGEM FDR team this year. I find science very fascinating and my numerous curiosities about the subject led me to join IGEM. Besides IGEM and doing science activities, I like building legos, reading books, biking and swimming.

Andres Romero

Hello! I’m Andres Romero, a 12th grader at FDR. This is my second year in the iGEM team and first year as the human practices team leader. My family is Venezuela but I’m currently living in Lima, Peru, where I was raised. iGEM has been a lot of fun as I’ve enjoyed learning about synthetic biology while conducting the human practices side of the team. I enjoy other things like video games, going to the gym, and playing golf.

Hi! I’m Catalina Lizarraga, a senior at Colegio FDR. I am involved in the Synthetic biology and Human practices teams in the iGEM club. I am planning to study biology at college so I love that iGEM gives me the opportunity to experiment with higher level biology that wouldn’t be available elsewhere as a high school student. Other than biology, I love to read, bake and go cycling.

Hi! I am Ana Lucia Fiestas, I am a tenth grader from Hiram Bingham. I am from Peru and I live in Lima. This year, 2022, I joined iGEM because I've recently become interested in sciences, biology and chemistry especially, and I think that being part of this club will help me develop this liking. As I mentioned before, this is my first year and I am currently part of the Production team though I've also participated with some of the SynBio team and been a part of the experiments. Some of my other interests are writing, music, and singing.

Hi! I am Gabriela Rojas, a 9th grade student at Hiram Bingham School. I am from Huancayo, Peru, but I currently live in Lima. This is my first year in the production section of iGEM. I like spending time in the lab and with the team, they are very nice. I definitely made the right decision to join the team, I have learned a lot of interesting things and I have come to like science a lot more. In my free time what I like to do is read, listen to music, dance, swim and spend time with my family.

Hello! My name is Marcos Carhuallanqui and I am a 11th grader in Colegio Rossevelt. I am Peruvian and lived in Brazil. It was only one year and then I am back in Lima, Peru. I applied and been in 2 practices in 2019, but for time problems I couldn't keep going. This semester is my first semester as part of the iGem team. I am currently at the synbio section and I really enjoy being part of the lab. When I am not doing iGem or academic activities, I like to go out and do skateboarding or play voleyball with my friends.

Hi! My name is Gabriel Sigrist. I’m a 9th grader from Colegio Roosevelt. I am from the United States, but now I live in Lima, Peru. This is my first year in the synbio section of IGEM. I think it’s really cool that I get the opportunity to do things that I used to read about in science magazines and articles, and to learn from my more experienced teammates in IGEM. When I’m not doing IGEM or schoolwork, I enjoy reading, backpacking, camping, and fly-fishing.

I am Julian Menacho, an 11th grader in Colegio FDR. I am from Peru and have lived there my whole life. This is my first year in iGEM and I decided to join the synthetic biology team. I really enjoy doing hands-on work and collaborating with my peers so this team was the one that stood out the most to me. Hola! My name is Lucia Yuren, I am a 10th grader in Colegio FDR. I am half Mexican half Spanish, but was born in Switzerland and lived un Chile for 10 years before moving to Perú. This is my first year in the synbio section of iGem. Some of my hobbies outside of iGem include swimming, debating, and cooking, however most of the time I am learning about the human anatomy!

Hey there! My name is Mariano and I graduated from FDR in May of 2022, I currently intern at school as a lab technician. I've helped the iGEM team by preparing the electrophoresis gels, LB/Agar solutions, and also autoclaving all the materials we need to run our experiments! In my free time I enjoy listening to music, exploring the city, and playing videogames with my friends.

Hello my name is Miguel Garro. I’m a 12th grader at Colegio FDR and form part of a joint high school iGEM team. This is close to being my 4th year as an iGEM member for my team, and I’m part of the synthetic biology section. Santiago Ochoa

Hi! I am Santiago Ochoa, a 10th-grade student at Hiram Bingham School. Science has always been my passion, and even if I am more into physics and math, I love to learn about biology. That's why I joined iGEM in 2020, and it has been fascinating to finally be able to work in the lab, as all my previous iGEM experiences had been virtual. This year I've been working with the Synbio team to initiate our experiments for future modeling of our results. When I am not in school or in the lab, you will probably find me reading, in the gym, or hanging out with my friends.

I am a science teacher at Colegio Franklin D. Roosevelt and this is my third year as an iGEM mentor. I am originally from Minnesota in the US, and when I have free time to leave the city I like to hike, camp, kayak, whitewater raft, and ski/snowboard.

I am a Chemistry teacher at Hiram Bingham school in Lima, Peru, and this is my fourth year being a mentor of our joint high school iGEM team with Colegio FDR. I am a scientist by training and very much enjoy getting back to the lab with our iGEM students. One of my favorite things to do outside of school/science is travel, so looking forward to combining those two passions in Paris!
